Kyle Busch – After leading a race high 98 laps last weekend at Las Vegas and fending off multiple contenders for the win, consider Kyle the man to beat this weekend at ISM Raceway. Prior to last year’s Xfinity Series race here he absolutely dominated winning 6 out of 8 races since 2013. In the 2018 season Kyle led 39 laps and finished 3rd after hard fought battles with Justin Allgaier and Brad Keselowski. If there seems to be any chance Kyle can dominate and lead the most laps again this weekend I believe he will be a lock play for this Saturday’s race.
Christopher Bell – The other top contender this weekend in my opinion is Christopher Bell. He has 3 career Xfinity Series starts at the ISM Raceway and an average finish of 3rd. He put on a dominating performance in the fall race last season to lock himself into the Championship 4 by leading a race high of 94 laps. He will be hungry for redemption this weekend after getting caught up in a late race incident with Tyler Reddick last weekend at Las Vegas. I expect C-Bell to be one of the few teams that can take down Kyle Busch.
Justin Allgaier- Motor troubles hindered Justin’s chances last weekend at Las Vegas which was setting up to be a good day with him leading 15 laps before the mishap. He is always a threat to win when the Xfinity Series comes to ISM Raceway, as it is one of Justin’s best tracks statistically. He has an average finish of 8.8 in 17 career starts at the facility. The 4 races since 2017 he has 1 win and a total of 197 laps led, which looks to be a good recipe for success this weekend. Look for a big rebound for the #7 team this Saturday.
John Hunter Nemechek- Coming off a 2nd place finish Nemechek is at a season low $9,000 this week on DraftKings. I think he can provide some great value as he started on the pole here in the fall and went on lead 33 laps. He finished 9th, which was the low point of the weekend for John Hunter. He is starting 13th and I believe he has one of the best opportunities for position differential for the race.
Ryan Truex- Making his season debut, this time getting behind the wheel of the #8 for JR Motorsports for one of his for attempts this season. He is relatively cheap this weekend at $7,700 and boasts a lot of experience at ISM Raceway. The two races at ISM in 2018 Ryan finished 13th and 15th in the #11 Kaulig Racing machine. I like him for this weekend as there is not a lot of opportunity for position differential due to the nature of the race and getting solid value with high potential from your mid tier drivers are very important.
Jeremy Clements – 2 of the 3 qualifying sessions have been rained out this season and it has put Clements in a 17th starting spot on owners’ points. His average points (FPPR) are down so far but with no rain in the forecast this weekend and if he will qualify somewhere outside of the top 20 and finish around 15th or so he will make for a solid play this weekend.
Brandon Brown- $6,400 this weekend for Brandon, He has never made a Xfinity Series start at ISM, however I expect him to be inside the top 15 like he has in the previous two races this season. There doesn’t seem to be much opportunity for position differential this week based on previous races so it will be important to get the value picks correct this Saturday.
